Without his willing goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt has moved into the second round of the DFB Cup. The SGE won 5-0 (2-0) at the fifth division FV Engers 07 from Rhineland-Palatinate. Hesse struggled in the Oberwerth stadium in Koblenz for a long time and only took the lead in the 44th minute through Jean-Mattéo Bahoya. Newcomer Ritsu Doan, who came from SC Freiburg in summer, made the double strike perfect for the Hesse shortly before the change of sides at his competitive premiere (45.). After the break, Doan (54th) and Elye Wahi (89th) and Paxten Aaronson (90.+1) scored again. In the second game on Saturday afternoon, second division SC Paderborn defeated third division Viktoria Köln 3-1.
In the goal of the Frankfurter there was not trapp, as announced by Coach Dino Toppmöller, but the actual number three Jens Grahl. While the Brazilian Kauã Santos was not part of the squad after his cruciate ligament rupture in the spring, Trapp is about to switch to the French first division promoted Paris FC.
“Kevin Trapp is in conversations with another club and therefore missing in the squad today,” the Eintracht had announced an hour before the kick -off. Central defender Robin Koch was named as the new captain. Michael Zetterer from Werder Bremen is available as the successor to Trapp. You have to “wait two or three days again, as it develops,” said Toppmöller at “Sky” about a possible Zetterer transfer.
Engers has the lead against Frankfurt on the foot
In front of 10,100 spectators, Eintracht recorded significantly more possession, but there were opportunities on both sides. Engers striker Manuel Simons awarded the best opportunity in the first 20 minutes, whose shot of Frankfurt’s Niel Nkounkou clarified shortly before the goal line (18th).
Afterwards, the team from the Neuwied district of Engers also held well against it and until shortly before the break the 0-0 – before Bahoya and Doan succeeded. In the second half, Eintracht checked the game, the forces at the host visibly subsided. With his second goal, Doan increased to 3-0 before the substitute Wahi and Aaronson provided the final score in the final phase.
