Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt is worried about left-back Christopher Lenz after the Champions League premiere.
“He felt a stab in his thigh, so I’m assuming he’ll be out for a few weeks,” said coach Oliver Glasner after the 3-0 (0-0) loss to Sporting Lisbon. The 27-year-old was replaced by Luca Pellegrini at half-time in the opening game.
Captain Sebastian Rode will also definitely miss Saturday’s league match against VfL Wolfsburg due to his thigh injury. “It’s a shame that we have to complain about an injury in every game,” Glasner continued: “We have to see who’s fresh and then it’s about finding the best eleven for Wolfsburg. It’s all happening in quick succession, the same thing then applies to Tuesday.”
Then it’s off to Olympique Marseille in the Champions League (9:00 p.m.). “Of course we want to score there, but it’s not a request concert,” said Glasner: “It won’t be that easy.” Despite the false start, one is still “not doomed” to win. “But we will definitely go there to win the game,” emphasized the Austrian.
