To support retailers in the corona pandemic, the city of Frankfurt has introduced the 2G ribbon.
Fully vaccinated and Genesis patients have been able to receive such a ribbon since Monday. “We have received feedback that the demand is high and that it is being accepted,” said a spokeswoman for the economic department. Wearing it is therefore voluntary. To prevent misuse, the colors should be changed weekly.
On presentation of the 2G proof, the ribbon can be handed out, for example, at the tourist information office on Römerberg or at Galeria Kaufhof on the Zeil. Above all, it should relieve the small businesses, for which the 2G control is a significant burden, said the spokeswoman. According to the information, the control ribbon is non-transferable and applies to retail outlets across the city.
Last week, Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD) stated that the ribbon ensures “that long and narrow queues in front of the shops are largely avoided at the end of the year and that the new year will hopefully begin with a liberated, spacious and safe shopping experience.” (dpa)
