Frankfurt before a top transfer: Götze should receive a performance-related contract with Frankfurt

Status: 06/21/2022 11:10 a.m

Mario Götze is scheduled to complete the medical check at Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday. Then only the signature is missing.

There are personal details that drag on for weeks and months. For example Filip Kostic and his Italian ambitions. Even if Kostic is largely in agreement with Juventus Turin: There is still no green light. Since the fans praise each other Eintracht Frankfurt but the cause Mario Götze. First Last Friday the Götze thing popped up in the media for the first time. Does Götze, who shot Germany through his goal to the world championship title in 2014, really come to harmony? Four days later it’s over. Götze signs a contract in Frankfurt until 2025. He is due to appear for a medical check on Tuesday afternoon. A high-speed transfer.

In the social media, Eintracht fans – in addition to a few critical voices – are overwhelmingly positive about Götze’s move to Eintracht. They, too, will once again realize what developments the people of Frankfurt have made in recent years. Götze zur Eintracht, a message that seems almost normal would have been a pipe dream three or four years ago. But what the fans are particularly enthusiastic about: Götze does not cost the Hessians huge sums.

Benfica offered higher salary

The 30-year-old is said to earn three to three and a half million euros a year in Frankfurt and is therefore not one of the top earners. The transfer fee is also acceptable. According to information from hr-sport, Eintracht only has to transfer PSV Eindhoven three million euros. And not – as originally reported – four million euros. Almost a bargain.

Benfica Lisbon is said to have lured Götze with a higher salary. But the ex-Dortmunter chose the way back to the Bundesliga: to the Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt.

Strongly performance-related contract for Götze

Should Götze and Eintracht be very successful again in the 2022/23 season, bonus payments would be due for Götze. His contract is heavily performance-related. Eintracht would probably be happy to accept such payments. These would only have to be paid in the event of success. Or as in this case: allowed to be paid. Say when you reach a place in the European Cup in the Bundesliga or progress in the Champions League. Both would flush a lot of money into the Eintracht coffers and thus also into the Götze wallet. So they can live in Frankfurt.

Now the only thing left to do is wait for it to be completed: medical check-up, contract signing, Götze in the SBU jersey. Should the latter happen at a press conference, Eintracht could put a few chairs in the press conference room. When Götze, the world champion maker of 2014, returns to the Bundesliga after two years, public interest will be correspondingly high. However, it is largely impossible for Götze to be presented on the big stage on Tuesday.
