Frank Schmiechen – “Ten Minutes”

Frank Schmiechen has a hand in everything: with the Cocomicos he played German pop with wind instruments in the early 80s. He opened for the Bangles and Housemartins. He played bass for Bernd Begemann, Timo Blunck, Saal 2 and Tilmann Rossmy. And he went on a European tour and in the studio with Robert Forster from the Go-Betweens. Most recently, he founded the project Charlie Keller with Timo Blunck (Die Zimmermann) in the summer of 2020 and soon he will be on the road again as part of the live band with the Zimmermann.

But Schmiechen really came into his own with his solo work. In 2015 the first and so far only solo album “The Man with the Yellow Shirt” was released. Now follows another EP with four very airy German pop songs, which are equally reminiscent of the 90s and retain the vibe of the sixties, which the songwriter has made the basis of his music in the past.

We show the video for his new song “Ten Minutes”. “It’s only ten minutes into one
different life”, the singer sings full of longing and also with the awareness that he has already experienced a lot.

Schmiechen about the video: “Roland Wolff and I shot in Mönchengladbach. Because it suddenly started snowing, we stayed in the Monforts district for most of the time. In the director’s house and in the abandoned factory halls. This used to be an important location for the German textile industry. Production is done somewhere else today.”
