Frank Lampard to return to Chelsea as interim head coach, report Sky Sports and The Athletic. According to media reports, Lampard is in the final stages of negotiations with his former club about taking over coaching responsibility for the rest of the season.

Lampard was watching Chelsea’s 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Tuesday in London.

Lampard, who created a wonderful playing career at Chelsea, piloted the London giant from 2019 to 2021. He was fired after fluctuating results in January 2021. The last time Lampard coached Everton was at the beginning of February 2022, but the streak also ended with dismissals in January of this year.

Now one of Chelsea’s greatest midfielders of all time is returning home to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea hopes to have Lampard on the bench for Saturday’s match against Wolverhampton.

Chelsea fired their head coach Graham Potter last Sunday. Chelsea, which is aiming for championships season after season, under Potter’s command has risen to 11th place in the Premier League, even though the club spent more than half a billion euros on player acquisitions during the summer and winter transfer windows.

The names of Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann have also been floating around in rumors as Potter’s replacement. However, according to media reports, the Chelsea management is closing in on the return of the club legend.

During his playing career, Lampard won three Premier League titles, the Champions League once and the FA Cup four times as a player at Chelsea. He is the club’s all-time top scorer with 211 goals.
