Frank Lammers speaks up for Iranian women and farmers

Many people will remember the speech that Undercover actor Frank Lammers gave after he won the Television Ring for best actor on Thursday evening. In less than 45 seconds, he playfully took up for both the Iranian women and the farmers, announced that he was looking for a girlfriend for his son and brought tears to the TV viewer for the loving way in which he thanked his father.

Lammers had competition from Angela Schijf and Tygo Gernandt at the election of the most important Dutch TV prize for actors. The actor and singer from Mierlo was not present at the award ceremony in Carré in Amsterdam because of TV recordings in Belgium.

But Lammers attracted all the attention with the speech he gave via a video link. “I want to thank my father. He’s at home in front of the television. Sometimes he doesn’t remember everything. But your optimism and happiness is an example for everyone. So thank you, old man.”

His support for both the Iranian women who have been protesting the regime in the country for weeks and his support for the peasantry has been applauded by some people. Others couldn’t appreciate it.

‘Best speech’
“Frank Lammers reminded the Iranian women, great! Hopefully more will follow tonight”, Ben responds on Twitter. “What a hero Frank Lammers is who calls long live Iranian women”, Eva tweeted. “Dear speech, so far”, said Joost.

Helena couldn’t appreciate it, though. “Frank Lammers who, during his speech of thanks during the Televizierring, mentions the Iranian women with the farmers in one sentence. Shame on you very, very, very deeply!!!!! Helena tweeted.

“It’s great that Frank Lammers, as the brand new self-proclaimed ‘Dutch Acting Champion’, openly supports the farmers! Were they not happy with that good folk in the hall”, Cath refers to the audience in the hall in Carré.
