That’s a hit! Former Berlin Senator for the Interior Frank Henkel (59, CDU) is the new President of the Berlin Boxing Association.

He succeeds Hans-Peter Miesner, who held the office for more than 30 years and was appointed Honorary President.

Henkel: “As a teenager I was a boxer myself, and I still go to the gym with Blau Gelb Weißensee today. The office of Berlin Box President is a great challenge for me.”

BZ wanted to know: What goals is Henkel pursuing? “I want to bring calm to the association and fully exploit the great potential that boxing has,” he says. “Together with the state sports association and politicians, I will also address the question of hall capacities for the clubs.”

He wants to exercise his office with passion and commitment.
