Frank Evenblij has a huge dislike for former skater Koen Verweij. The presenter has had a very bad experience with him. “No, I don’t think he’s a nice man.”
Koen Verweij induces vomiting in Frank Evenblij. The presenter tells in the podcast Office Sports to have a particularly unpleasant experience with the former skater. “No, I don’t think he’s a nice man. He’s a bit of a nasty man,” the presenter says plainly.

What exactly happened? Frank: “We once played an item at Bureau Sport about that marathon skater who had died (Sjoerd Huisman, ed.). That Huisman often drove with Koen Verweij and Jan Blokhuijsen in an old Peugeot 205 to Thialf. They always did that together. It was really a friendship.”
It was always a special car ride, explains Frank. Huisman also seemed to be a really nice man. He always made pancakes, put them in aluminum foil and then handed them out during the car ride.”

A year after the death of the 27-year-old skater, Frank has made a tribute with Bureau Sport. “We had arranged an identical Peugeot 205 and we did that trip again. Jan Blokhuijsen and Koen Verweij would also go along. We had also agreed this with Huisman’s family and they liked it.”
That didn’t go as planned. “I was going to drive, so I arrived at Blokhuijsen and then we had to wait for Koen Verweij. But he didn’t show up. So we call him, but he didn’t answer. After an hour, an hour and a half, he texted: ‘I’m late, because I’m in a traffic jam.’”
Afsluitdijk
Very unbelievable, says Frank. “At one point he started sending pictures of where he was in a traffic jam on the Afsluitdijk. We had driven over it a while before, but then there was no traffic jam yet. In the end he didn’t come at all. And I found that quite disappointing.”
“Things can happen. But in this case, it was quite a precarious subject. You’re making it for someone who just passed away. Jan Blokhuijsen was also quite emotional and you just don’t show up.”
