Frank de Boer is no longer coach of Al-Jazira football club in the United Arab Emirates. The 53-year-old Monnickendammer was fired after a cup defeat against Al-Wahda on Monday (4-2).
“Given the recent performances and results, the board of Al-Jazira has decided to dismiss the first team coach, Frank de Boer, with immediate effect,” the club said in a short statement on X.
The North Hollander succeeded compatriot Marcel Keizer as trainer in Abu Dhabi last summer. For the former defender it was the first job as a trainer since his departure as national coach of the Dutch team two years earlier.
De Boer won four national titles in a row with Ajax between 2011 and 2014. The 112-time international was much less successful at Internazionale, Crystal Palace and Atlanta United.
