In Kirby’s opinion, women’s football treats eating in the wrong way. He says that the players are downright afraid of eating carbohydrates.
Carbohydrates are vital fuel for soccer players, but many players forget that when they only think about how they look on the field.
– It shouldn’t matter what body type you have, or how you look in a dress or jersey. A strong body should be nurtured. If that means eating more, then you’re only doing the right thing, says Kirby.
The documentary features a telling scene where Kirby arrives at practice wearing a jacket on a sunny day.
– Why are you wearing a jacket? Someone gasps off camera.
– Because I’m called fat all the time, Kirby answers.
