Vice world champion France will have to do without their record goalscorer Olivier Giroud in the duel with Germany on Tuesday (9:00 p.m./ARD).
As the French Football Federation announced, the striker is out due to “a slight sprain of his left ankle.”
The 37-year-old Giroud suffered the injury on Thursday in the 2-0 (1-0) European Championship qualifier against Ireland; in the game in Paris he was replaced by ex-Gladbacher Marcus Thuram in the 26th minute.
National coach Didier Deschamps decided not to be called up for the duel with four-time world champions Germany in Dortmund.
