French football association president Noel Le Graet announced his resignation on Tuesday after allegations of bullying and sexual harassment after eleven years in office.
The news agency AFP found out. Accordingly, Le Graet announced his departure before the Executive Committee after he had previously come under increasing pressure.
Le Graet denies all allegations
Two weeks ago, the Paris Ministry of Sport came to the conclusion that the 81-year-old no longer had the necessary legitimacy to lead and represent French football. The Paris public prosecutor’s office is currently investigating sexual harassment against Le Graet, who has denied all allegations.
Le Graet had been in office as association president since mid-January, before he had slipped into several scandals. Among other things, the 81-year-old had made disparaging remarks about the French football legend Zinedine Zidane and his possible future as national coach of the vice world champion.
