PARIS (dpa-AFX) – French industry produced significantly less in October. Total production fell by 2.6 percent compared to the previous month, as reported by the Insee statistics office in Paris on Friday. Analysts had expected stagnation. Manufacturing fell 0.9 percent in September.
According to Insee, production developed poorly across the board. Goods production in the manufacturing sector fell by 2.0 percent. Coal and petrol production fell particularly sharply. The reason is the tariff dispute in the refinery sector, explained Insee./bgf/stk
