France and UK agree on approach to migrant flow via Canal | Abroad

The agreement will significantly increase the number of French agents operating on the Channel beaches, now 200. France will also aim to prevent a “much higher” percentage of migrants crossing from France, according to The Telegraph. That British newspaper also writes that France agrees to a joint control center where British immigration officials will be stationed.

British newspaper The Express reports that British drones will be deployed to detect migrants hiding in sand dunes before making the perilous crossing, often in light dinghies. In 2022, a record 40,000 migrant boats reached Britain by crossing the Channel from France.
