Goalkeeper goes to rise

After leaving FC Schalke 04 after just one year, goalkeeper Martin Fraisl spoke calmly about ending the partnership. “We parted extremely cleanly, with great appreciation. We decided together that we would each go a different way,” explained the 29-year-old, who played his part in the direct resurgence of the Royal Blues as a regular keeper, but also attracted attention with his changeable performances, on the TV station sky.

Where Fraisl is headed is still unclear. The Austrian has “basically very good ideas about the future. It is important to me that the overall package fits. I want to come to a club that sees me at the top. Many parameters have to fit. I want to play at a very, very high level.” The financial aspect also played a role in his decision, which is why the keeper will probably go abroad again.

After the Schalke chapter: goalkeeper Fraisl deliberately wants to take his time

“That much is relatively certain. I’ll consciously take my time with that. It will be a very good transfer,” said Fraisl. The right footer stood between the posts a total of 26 times for the “Knappen”, conceded 32 goals and kept a clean sheet eight times. In Germany he was previously active for SV Sandhausen. It is still uncertain who Schalke’s new number one in the Bundesliga will be.

“We cannot take everyone with us who helped us to rise. There will definitely be tears that are not positive,” sporting director Rouven Schröder recently said about the announced departures.
