Füchse Berlin have taken the lead in the Handball Bundesliga. At the SC DHfK Leipzig, the capital city won on Sunday with 31:26 (12:11) and thus overtook the Rhein-Neckar Löwen and the THW Kiel.

The most successful Berlin pitchers were Hans Lindberg, Jacob Holm and Mijajlo Marsenic with seven goals each.

The 4,587 spectators in the Leipzig Arena initially saw three failed attempts by the foxes before Tim Freihöfer scored for the guests in the third minute via a counter-attack. After that, the team came into play better and took a 4:2 lead. However, the two teams gave little.

After a quarter of an hour played, both Leipzig and Berlin had eight points on their account. While Der SC DHfK was busy in the backcourt, the foxes were sometimes not compact in defense and not clear enough in attack, but were able to keep up thanks to a good goalkeeper performance.

In the second half, the Berlin defense was more attentive, while goalkeeper Viktor Kireev allowed little more. The result was a 15:12 lead in the 34th minute. But the hosts didn’t let up and reduced the lead to 16:17 in the 41st minute. However, the foxes had the staying power and in the end they didn’t let the victory be taken away from them.
