Foxes storm to the top of the table

The foxes Berlin have taken the lead in the handball Bundesliga at least until Saturday.

The still undefeated club from the capital won against the still pointless ASV Hamm-Westfalen 37:26 (19:13) and was even able to jump to the top thanks to HC Erlangen’s first defeat of the season with 29:32 (17:18) at DHfK Leipzig. On Saturday, Rhein-Neckar Löwen or SG Flensburg-Handewitt could replace Foxes as leaders.

Due to the setback in Leipzig, Erlangen slipped to sixth place behind VfL Gummersbach, who had returned from the first division. The former record champion won 29:24 (16:9) against the new tail light TVB Stuttgart. HSV Hamburg consolidated its place in the top half of the table with a 33:22 (15:11) home win against Bergischer HC.

Berlin gives Hamm no chance

Berlin didn’t let anything burn against Hamm after problems at the start. From the middle of the first half of the game, the former cup winners were the leading team on the floor. With five goals, Milos Vujovic became the home side’s most successful player. The best guest thrower was the triple goalscorer Fabian Huesmann.

Erlangen initially took the lead in Leipzig and thus fueled hopes of a fifth success in a row, which was still possible after a comeback just before the break. However, Leipzig pulled away irresistibly in the second half. The Saxons’ most accurate shooters were Patrick Larsen and Viggo Kristjansson with seven goals each, while Christoph Steinert was Erlangen’s most successful thrower with six goals.

Like Leipzig, Gummersbach fell behind in the early stages of the duel with Stuttgart. After that, however, the Bergische found their rhythm and confidently wrapped up their second home win of the season. Ellidi Vidarsson scored eight goals, the most for the hosts.

Hamburg’s outstanding player was Casper Mortensen with eleven goals. Noah Beyer scored six goals for BHC.
