After the World Cup break, Füchse Berlin started the second half of the season successfully.

On Tuesday evening, in front of 4,595 spectators in the Max-Schmeling-Halle, the handball Bundesliga team in the European League easily defeated the Ukrainian champions HC Motor Zaporischschja 32:24 (18:10).

The foxes remain the undefeated leaders of group D, they were already qualified for the round of 16 before the game. The best Berlin throwers were Jacon Holm with eleven and Max Beneke with five goals.

Many youth players in action

Coach Jaron Siewert relied on the Danish world champions Holm and Hans Lindberg from the start. Mathias Gidsel, voted best player of the World Cup, was on the bench but was rested. But even without Gidsel, the favorite was always in the lead. In the early stages, the foxes could even allow themselves a few misses and technical errors without being seriously endangered.

The superiority of the hosts was too great. It became clear after around 19 minutes (12:6). In addition, the Ukrainians, who are active in the second German division this season and play their home games in Düsseldorf, repeatedly failed due to Foxes keeper Dejan Milosavljev. He showed eleven saves in the first half alone.

Immediately after the change of sides, the lead was in double digits for the first time (20:10). Siewert now spared more and more regulars. With the exception of circle player Mijajlo Marsenic, there were only players on the field at times who came from their own youth. In the meantime, this caused a small break in the game, but the foxes remained sovereign until the end.
