Füchse Berlin also won their eighth game in the European League and thus secured victory in Group D. On Tuesday evening, the leaders of the Handball Bundesliga won 40:32 (23:17) against the Spanish representative Bidasoa Irun.

The foxes are the only team without a loss in this competition. Best Berlin throwers were Milos Vujovic with seven and Jacob Holm and Mijajlo Marsenic with six goals each. Hans Lindberg became the sixth player ever to score his 1000th goal in a European competition.

After a balanced start, mistakes in the Spanish attacking game increased. The guests were able to steal balls again and again and came up with simple hits through speed counterattacks.

With a 4-0 run, the Berliner Mitte were able to pull away in the first half. But they also negligently missed a few open throws and missed the opportunity to set themselves apart even more clearly.

In the meantime, the foxes also had problems with the offensive cover of the Basques, which brought them back to 10:13. But the guests remained calm and benefited again from ball losses and misses by the hosts. By half-time, the foxes had pulled away again by six goals.

And even after the change of sides, the Berliners dominated. The Basques found hardly any chances against the protection of the guests.

After only about eight minutes in the second half, the foxes’ lead had more than doubled (33:20). Then the capital city slowed down and rested some of the regulars early on. But victory was no longer in danger.
