The US TV broadcaster “Fox” has apparently canceled an interview with President Joe Biden as part of the Super Bowl.
As press spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre explained on Twitter, Biden was supposed to appear on the broadcaster’s streaming service before the NFL finals on Sunday (local time). He was “looking forward to it” and wanted to speak about “the Super Bowl, the State of the Union and critical issues that affect the everyday life of black Americans”.
“We have been informed that Fox Corp has requested that the interview be canceled,” continued Jean-Pierre. The presidential interviews in the run-up to the NFL final with the respective broadcaster have been common in the USA for years. In the past two years, Biden had spoken to the broadcasters “CBS” and “NBC”.
Fox, which shows the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs (Monday, 12:30 a.m. CET/ProSieben and DAZN) in the States, is considered to be conservative and was close to former President Donald Trump, among others.
Biden is said to be critical of the wide-ranging broadcaster, among other things he had previously clashed with Fox’s main correspondent for the White House.
