Bob Hanning and Füchse Berlin want to intervene in the fight for the German handball championship.
“I don’t think it’s reprehensible that you’re striving for the title,” said the managing director of the capital club of the “Stuttgarter Zeitung” and the “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” in an interview that appeared on Tuesday: “We finished third last season and have the clear goal of attacking upwards.”
The 54-year-old expects that in addition to the defending champions SC Magdeburg, record champions THW Kiel, SG Flensburg-Handewitt and the foxes, a surprise team can also play for the title: “In any case, it’s nice that, unlike in football, not only there is a discussion about when FC Bayern will be champions.”
Despite all the ambitions, the official also urges humility: “We know that we have to defend our position from the bottom. That will not be easy.”
In addition to his work as Foxes Managing Director and as a trainer of the second division promoted 1. VfL Potsdam, Hanning is currently deputizing for the sick Berlin coach Jaron Siewert. “We all hope that he will be back by the start of the season.” The foxes start the 2022/23 season on Sunday (4:05 p.m. / Sky) with the home game against Frisch Auf Göppingen.
