Hannover 96 has won their fourth consecutive victory at Hansa Rostock in the 2nd Bundesliga and is now within striking distance of the promotion places.
After successes against Jahn Regensburg (1:0), in Magdeburg (4:0) and against SpVgg Greuther Fürth (2:1), the Hanoverians also won their second division game at Hansa Rostock on Sunday (September 4th, 2022).
Hanover is firmly at the top
In the end, it was 1-0 (1-0) from the Lower Saxony perspective in front of 25,000 spectators in the Ostseestadion. The goal of the day was scored by Maximilian Beier with a penalty kick (41st minute), which he had previously taken himself.
96 has thus established itself in the upper region of the table for the first time and is in fifth place within striking distance of the promotion ranks. Rostock ranks eleventh in midfield.
Rostock: Again no home win against Hannover
The season high of 13 fouls from Rostock in the first half alone was proof of the playful superiority of the guests. Hansa around the strong Kai Pröger was no longer rewarded for the increase in performance in the second half, and sometimes failed because of the strong 96 goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler. Rostock has been waiting for a home win against 96 for more than 18 years.
After the successes of the past few weeks, Hannover started unchanged for the third time in a row and acted more energetically, purposefully, simply had more of the game. After a few missed opportunities, Beier then scored from the penalty spot.
After that, however, not much came from Hanover. Duels were lost, passes became less accurate – and Rostock had some good opportunities. The game remained exciting until the final phase.
Hanover against Braunschweig, Rostock in Dusseldorf
Hannover 96 will now host Eintracht Braunschweig on Matchday 8 (Saturday, September 10th, 2022 at 1 p.m.). In the late game at 8.30 p.m. Rostock is challenged away in Düsseldorf.
