Fourth edition of the CAPS Urban Cross Kortrijk
The riders are presented with a diverse course with passages through the sand, short hills and fast grass strips along the Leie. In addition to the typical ingredients of a cross, the course also runs through the city of Kortrijk, just a few hundred meters from the Grote Markt. During a lap, the riders have to cross the Leie twice, via the College Bridge and the Groeninge Bridge, where the start and finish is.
Brand can score four in a row
Lucinda Brand has won the past three editions of the Caps Urban Cross Kortrijk and can therefore write the cross to her name for the fourth time. But in order to win, she will have to deal with world champion Marianne Vos, Ceylin Alvarado, Aniek van Alphen and Denise Betsema. The big absentee is Fem van Empel, the leaders in the Soudal Ladies Trophy will not start in Kortrijk.
Pidcock for the first time in Kortrijk
Among the men, there is also a Dutchman in the lead in the X²O Bathroom Trophy. Lars van der Haar won the opening round in Oudenaarde. To win in the Golden Spurs City, he will have to be stronger than the world champion Tom Pidcock, who will participate in the cross in Kortrijk for the first time. In addition to Tom Pidcock and Lars van der Haar, Eli Iserbyt and Michael Vanthourenhout are also in action, they are the numbers two and three in the rankings.
Trimetal Rookie Trophy
There is also something at stake for the promising riders today. They participate in the Timetrail Rookie Trophy. With world champion Joran Wyseure and European champion Emiel Verstrynge, there are also some top riders at the start.
