The deadly selfie drama happened last weekend at Kitawada Falls, on the border between the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra. A group of 40 students from the city of Belagavi was on a day trip to the falls. Five young ladies tried to take a spectacular selfie on the edge of the waterfall. Three of the victims were 20 years old and a fourth young woman was 19 years old.
According to local media, they held hands while taking pictures. One of the women is said to have slipped, causing the five to fall off a cliff and into the water. Four of the five women drowned. A fifth victim was taken to a hospital in a critical condition.
