“Four people were taken to hospital with respiratory complaints. One worker initially became ill, a little later three other workers also complained of respiratory problems,” says the Westhoek Fire Department.
A number of local residents were given preventive care in a nearby gym. Haiglaan and part of Augustijnenstraat were closed to traffic for a while.
“Around 11:30 am the situation was declared safe again by DOVO and everyone could return home,” concludes Kristof Louagie, spokesperson for the Westhoek Fire Department.
