Camera images showed how two robbers knocked the Ostend construction promoter Bart Versluys to the ground when he wanted to leave his office. He was then given pepper spray in the face and his luxury watch was stolen.
When it later became known that robbers had also stolen a timepiece from businessman Miguel Dheedene in Antwerp, the link was quickly made with the robbery at Versluys. At Dheedene, the loot was a watch worth 180,000 euros.
“The investigation is in full swing,” says the East Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office. “There is currently nothing more that can be communicated.”
