Four streets in Alkmaar designated as safety risk areas after explosion wave

Four streets in Alkmaar have been designated as safety risk areas. Within such an area, people on the street can be preventively searched. The reason for the decision is the explosion of recent days. Mayor Anja Schouten previously took other measures, such as camera surveillance and closing a building.

This concerns the streets Mesdaglaan, Olieslagerstraat, Ruusbroechof and Lekstraat, and their immediate surroundings.

Explosions

The first explosion was just after 4 a.m. on Monday at the Ruusbroechof in the Overdie district. Later that day, at 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM in the evening, there were explosions on Mesdaglaan in De Hoef and Olieslagerstraat in the De Mare district.

Explosives had previously gone off at the Ruusbroechof and in the Olieslagerstraat. Cameras have already been installed and a house closed in the latter street.
