One of the men, a 19-year-old, is said to have last spoken at the border between Poland and Ukraine. He left a note for his parents and booked a one-way ticket to Poland, writes The Sun

According to the newspaper, police and officials and other Defense Ministry officials are trying to reach the teens before they can join Ukraine’s Foreign Legion. One would fear that Russia will use it as an argument that Britain is meddling in the war. An employee of the Ministry of Defense also warns that departure to Ukraine is prohibited and will have ‘disciplinary and administrative’ consequences.

A photo on Snapchat could indicate that the 19-year-old has already joined the foreign legion. A friend of his tells the newspaper that he and the other soldiers would have become bored with their purely ceremonial role. “They were promised an operation for three years, but it was cancelled.
