Iran parted ways with Croatian coach Dragan Skocic around four months before the start of the World Cup in Qatar. This is reported by the official agency IRNA.
The 53-year-old succeeded the former Schalke Bundesliga professional Marc Wilmots at the beginning of 2020 and led the Iranian team to their sixth World Cup appearance. Under his leadership 15 of 18 games were won.
At the World Cup in Qatar (November 21 to December 18), Iran is in a group with England, the USA and Wales.
