Four Hills Tournament: jumping in Innsbruck wobbles

The Bergiselschanze of the Four Hills Tournament in Innsbruck is known for its difficult wind conditions. Because of the strong wind, the trial run had to be canceled, now jumping is on the brink.

It will be exciting even before the Four Hills Tournament in Innsbruck. The reason for this is the strong wind. The DSV-Adler and the other jumpers may not even be able to start.

Because of the strong wind at Bergiselschanze, the trial run was canceled at short notice before the third competition. The organizers announced this on Tuesday lunchtime. The rehearsal was actually scheduled for 12 noon and had initially been postponed. However, the external conditions did not allow it to be carried out later either. The competition, which was scheduled for 1.30 p.m., is still on the brink. Instead of 1.30 p.m., the first ski jumping round should now start at 3 p.m. The competition should start at 3 p.m. at the latest, as the facility in Tyrol has no floodlights.

“Will try anything”

Sandro Pertile, race director of the FIS, said on ZDF: “We will try everything until 3 pm. I think there is no possibility to jump again tomorrow in Innsbruck.” Therefore, one option would be – if the jumping does not take place on Tuesday – that the whole ski jumping entourage moves on to Bischofshofen and carries out the competition there with a new qualification.

In Bischofshofen, two competitions would then be carried out and thus the cards would also be reshuffled. In addition, another possibility would be that only one round is carried out in Innsbruck.
