Four Dutch riders no longer start in the last stage of the Tour of Belgium due to stolen bicycles | Sport

The riders of Baloise Trek Lions were forced to cancel for the last stage in the Tour of Belgium. The Belgian team of team boss Sven Nys fell victim to theft of equipment last night.

Bicycles and wheels were stolen, Baloise Trek Lions reports on social media. ,,End of the Belgium Tuor for us. Last night we were victims of a theft of our bicycles and wheels. Unfortunately, it is therefore not possible for us to start today in the last stage. We await the police investigation.”

Baloise Trek Lions was active in the five-day stage race with four Dutchmen: David Haverdings, Joris Nieuwenhuis, Pim Ronhaar and Lars van der Haar, the four-time Dutch cyclo-cross champion.

Mathieu van der Poel starts today as leader of the classification on the final stage of the 92nd edition of the Tour of Belgium, with start and finish in Brussels. The last stage is flat, but 195 kilometers long. The winner of the recent edition of Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix reinforced his leading position in the general classification yesterday with an impressive solo of 36 kilometers.

Van der Poel is working towards the Tour de France in the Tour of Belgium, which starts in Bilbao in thirteen days.
