Four Days of the Yser started
The Four Days Marches was started in 1968 by the Order of Horse Fishermen to promote the Westhoek as a tourist destination. It quickly grew into a two-day event. After a few years, the army took over the organization. During the Four Days Marches, the victims who fell in the Westhoek during the First World War are commemorated.
On Friday, the international walking tour will conclude in Ypres with the Last Post, which exceptionally takes place at half past three. Then all participants walk from the Menin Gate to the Market.
