Foundation sixth time with aid transport to Ukraine: ‘We will not leave them to their fate’

For the sixth time since the Russian invasion, Henk-Jan Hofman is going to Ukraine to help war victims. With his East-West Contacts foundation, he arranges emergency aid together with Arie van Klei, after which Hofman takes the goods to the affected area.

For example, Hofman brought tents earlier, an action that was set up together with the Kampeerhal in Roden. He later brought generators to the Lviv area in northwestern Ukraine. This time, bicycles are part of the freight to Ukraine.

The two-wheelers go to the north of the country, in an area about 150 kilometers above Kiev. “There are small farmers in villages, the roads are completely broken,” says Hofman. His companion Van Klei adds: “People there earn about 250 euros and do not have their own car. The vans that normally arrange transport have almost all been sent to the front. People now have to walk everything, but they try to life again. And then you need transport,” he says.
