‘Found something’ in search for 9-year-old Gino | Inland

In the vicinity of Vincent van Goghplein, citizens have found something that may be related to the missing person. Part of the square has been cordoned off for research. It is not yet clear what exactly was found, but the police are taking the find ‘seriously’. Members of a forensic team have since been called in for the investigation.

Relatives of Gino arrived quickly on the spot in Haanrade after reporting, but have since left.

Members of the Veterans Search Team, which has been looking for the boy since Friday afternoon, are involved in the investigation. Some veterans have also gathered in the nearby wooded area.

The police also searched the area around Landgraaf on Friday. Drones, sniffer dogs and a helicopter were used.

Gino was last seen on Wednesday evening in Kerkrade, about a mile from where something has now been found. About 6 kilometers away on Thursday evening, a scooter was found at sports complex De Bende in Landgraaf that resembles Gino’s, although it has not yet been officially confirmed that it is actually his scooter.

The veterans team, which also searched for Anne Faber in 2017, joined many other volunteers in Kerkrade.

Earlier in the day, the police urgently appealed to residents of Kerkrade and Landgraaf to release images showing the missing Gino, for example made by a doorbell camera or dashcam.

A German search team has informed the family of the missing Gino that its track is stopped at an address on the Hertogenlaan in Kerkrade. “They suspect that Gino got into a car there,” says a contact person of the family. The Limburg police cannot respond to this yet.
