Found shelter for almost 500 people at Ter Apel, some people sleep outside | Inland

Accommodation was found for nearly five hundred people who stayed at the application center in Ter Apel in the night from Sunday to Monday, the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) reports.

As previously announced, people could go to crisis emergency shelter locations in Zwolle and Doetinchem. In addition, people could go to crisis emergency shelters in Zuidbroek and Stadskanaal, and in Dordrecht and Haaksbergen.

Furthermore, places have been found in six different places in the provinces of Groningen and Drenthe through the organization Inlia, a network organization that helps asylum seekers in need. 125 unaccompanied minors have also been housed in Amsterdam and Doetinchem.

Outside

Some people choose to spend the night outside. Camp beds and sleeping bags have been arranged for them.

The beds and sleeping bags have been arranged by the Red Cross, the organization announced earlier this evening. The Red Cross estimated that about 25 people will sleep outside tonight.

According to the Red Cross, the decision to place beds was made in consultation with the COA, the security region, GGD GHOR Nederland, the Health Care and Youth Inspectorate and Doctors Without Borders. The beds are set up by employees and volunteers outside the registration center, where hundreds of people have been sleeping outside in recent days.

“The Red Cross believes that everyone, regardless of the situation, has the right to a bed and humane reception in general.”

It has been overcrowded in Ter Apel for months. Last Friday, the cabinet announced measuressuch as money and support, to improve reception.
