A dead person was found on Wednesday evening in the Wilhelmina Canal in Best, along the NCB road. The police suspect a crime.
“Although all scenarios are still open, we are seriously considering a crime,” the police said. The forensic team is looking for traces in the channel. “This will certainly take some time tonight. Much is still unclear.”
The report about a person in the water came shortly before eight o’clock in the evening. The police and fire brigade went to search and indeed found a body in the water. That was brought to the side with a boat.

At the site of the discovery, the police have set up privacy screens to conduct the technical investigation in complete secrecy.
During the search, shipping traffic on the Wilhelmina Canal was halted. The bicycle bridge over the water was also closed. It is not clear when the canal and the cycle path will be released.
