Sports director admits mistakes
Klaus Allofs has admitted mistakes in his work as director of sport and communication at Fortuna Düsseldorf. “I certainly made the mistake of making compromises at the beginning of my job at Fortuna and you shouldn’t do that, especially if you’re not convinced of it,” said the 65-year-old on the show “Maschinensucher Doppelpass 2. Bundesliga” at ” Sports1″.

Fortuna on the up again with Thioune?Discuss now in the F95 forum
The sports board worked in a constellation “in which there were no clear responsibilities. That wasn’t good and we shouldn’t have done it that way from the start.” The club is currently in relegation place 16 in the 2nd Bundesliga, had parted ways with coach Christian Preusser last week and installed Daniel Thioune as his successor.
Under the direction of the 47-year-old, an important 2-1 home win against FC Schalke 04 was recently achieved, which allowed Düsseldorf to catch up with the competition from Sandhausen, Rostock, Hanover and Dresden.

Klaus Allofs on possible Düsseldorf relegation: Would be a “disaster”
Despite the difficult sporting situation, Allofs believes in himself and his work. “I’m convinced that I can lead Fortuna to success, just like I’ve done with other clubs,” he said, even if wrong decisions were part of it: “Fortuna approached me for a reason. If everything had been wonderful, I would not have been asked to help. And that’s how I see my job too.”
A possible relegation would be a “disaster,” said Allofs, but believes in staying in the class: “If the team plays like this and works together and brings in energy like they did against Schalke, I’m not afraid.”
