After 2 years in the 3rd division
Fortuna Düsseldorf has presented the first newcomer for the coming season. Yannik Engelhardt (22) comes from SC Freiburg, where the defensive midfielder played 54 games for the second team in the 3rd division on loan. Fortuna did not make it known how long the young professional, who was trained at Werder Bremen, was committed. The sports club reportedly conceded a fee in the seven-digit range after the Breisgauer had paid just under one million euros for the former junior international to Werder when the loan expired this year.
“Yannik has excellent technical and cognitive skills and, despite his age, already has a high presence on the pitch. He fits perfectly into our position profile and we are very happy that he has chosen us,” said sporting director Christian Weber. Sporting director Klaus Allofs added: “Yannik Engelhardt is a talented midfielder who has a lot of experience for his age. He is ready for the next step and we trust him to play an important role for us.”
