Fortuna Düsseldorf reacted after the departure of Jamil Siebert and committed a new central defender. Jesper Daland comes on loan from the Welsh club Cardiff City, who plays in the third -class League One in England. According to the club, there is a purchase option.
“We are very much looking forward to Jesper. After the departure of Jamil, we created a clear profile what his successor should bring with us. It was important to us to sign a seasoned player. Jesper has proven stability and consistency, especially in his time in Belgium,” explained Klaus Allofs.
Daland had only moved from Cercle Bruges to Cardiff last summer for 4.1 million euros, where he was still under contract until 2028. For the Bluebirds, he completed 23 games in which he was on average 68 minutes on the pitch. However, injuries prevented that he was able to assert himself completely. Its market value fell by a million to EUR 3.5 million that year.
“I have had a good feeling since the first meeting with those responsible. The fans in Germany are very special and I look forward to playing here in Düsseldorf. I would like to give the team as much as possible to achieve the goals. I hope to get closer to my first A-international game for Norway,” said the 25-year-old, who was in a total of four times in the national team.
