Longtime Fortuna professional
Fortuna veteran Adam Bodzek is taking the path with the Düsseldorfers that some well-known names have already trodden before him. The 36-year-old midfielder has signed a new two-year deal but will no longer be part of the F95 squad. In preparation for his post-playing career, the German Pole, who has been active on the Rhine since 2011, will initially play for two more years as a leading player in the U23s and then work elsewhere in the club.
“Adam will fill the gap in our U23s caused by the end of Oliver Fink’s career,” said Fortuna’s sporting director Klaus Allofs. Before Bodzek and Fink, Jens Langeneke (today U17 coach), Christian Weber (sports director) and Andreas “Lumpi” Lambertz (U23 assistant coach) had already decided to end their careers in the U23s and then step into an official role. Allofs added: “Adam represents Fortuna in an extraordinary way. Our young players can use him as a guide and he will be very valuable for their development. And even after the end of his active career, Adam der Fortuna will remain in a role that has yet to be defined.”
