Fortuna Düsseldorf’s sports director Klaus Allofs has clearly rejected allegations of anti -Semitism against his club. “This is absurd to say that very clearly,” said Allofs before Fortuna’s second division game against Hannover 96 at the Sky microphone.

We did that and then had a clearer picture with more information and then decided against it,” explained Allofs.
“As so often, the problems that have arisen have spoken out and formed an opinion without knowing the background,” he also criticized the public debate. A faster communication of the association would still have been “sensible”, admitted Allofs. He also emphasized that the club was also looking for a conversation with the Jewish community, which had also publicly criticized the club.
In conclusion, he said: “We tried to sign a player and I think that’s legitimate. It is also one of our values that we do not limit ourselves with prejudices and exclude this from the outset.” In the end, however, after an intensive examination, it was decided: “In the overall constellation, it is not good for Fortuna.”
