Fortapàsc, Rai 3: the film with Libero De Rienzo about Giancarlo Siani

He has a nose for news and his goal is the search for the truth.

These are the years in which Torre Annunziata is crossed by a real Camorra war. Valentino Gionta (Massimiliano Gallo) has established himself as a boss and Siani investigates the links with the Bardellino and Nuvoletta clans. With his investigation, he discovers that the country is under the thumb of organized crime. The underworld has infiltrated everywhere, even in the halls of power and the city administration.

He is fearless, Siani. A contemporary hero who finds himself wearing the role of a deluded Don Quixote. He does not fight with windmills, but with an insurmountable wall of silence and fear. The substance, however, does not change and he finds himself alone. He discovers that the mayor of Torre Annunziata, Cassano (Ennio Fantastichini), is colluding with the Camorra and has favored rigged tenders. It uncovers a widespread system made up of corruption, bribes, scams and blood.

So he encounters his first obstacles. The editor of the newspaper advises him not to rock the boat too much, but Siani goes ahead and investigates the fishermen’s club massacre of 26 August 1984. A real showdown between the Bardellino clan and the Gionta clan, which led to 8 murders. He writes, talks and informs public opinion. And, in the end, he was transferred to Naples, to the central editorial office.

He has been collaborating for some time with Rico (Michele Riondino), a law student and aspiring photographer, addicted to heroin. And when Giancarlo goes to work in Naples, he decides to leave the news and complete his studies to become a lawyer. Also, Siani he is engaged to Daniela (Valentina Lodovini). They experience ups and downs, especially because they already have a life partner: work.

His career is on the rise. The possibility of an internship arrives with which he can become a professional. He is invited to tell about his profession in a high school. In Naples he deals with trade union demonstrations and little else. However, he doesn’t forget Torre Annunziata and exposes himself a lot, too much. Valentino Gionta wants him dead. Thus the intimidation begins. The phone rings constantly, but no one answers on the other end. Siani understands, but continues. AND on the evening of September 23, 1985 he calls Daniela to let her know that he will pick her up to go to the Vasco Rossi concert together. He doesn’t have time because, once he gets home, he is killed with 10 gunshots to the head.

Born in 1977, Libero De Rienzo made his film debut in 1999 with Donkeys.
