McLaren driver Lando Norris is known far beyond Formula 1 for his loose mouth and regular jokes. The relaxed nature of the young Englishman is particularly well received on social media. After the French Grand Prix, he posted a post on Instagram that immediately went viral.
The French Grand Prix went according to plan for McLaren and Lando Norris. In the end, both cars ended up in the points and Norris got the maximum out of seventh. After the race, the 22-year-old, who was in a good mood, made an Instagram post that became an instant hit.
“As of today we share 27 race wins among us,” Norris wrote for a picture that showed him and Verstappen laughing in front of a waiting helicopter.
In less than 24 hours, the picture and Norris’ comment garnered over a million likes and more than 2,500 user comments.
Of course, not only the die-hard Formula 1 fan knows: There can be no question of “sharing” in this case, because Norris still has zero victories in Formula 1. Verstappen achieved all 27 successes mentioned.
The Dutchman insisted and replied to the post. “I have to stock up before you start stealing my wins,” said the Red Bull pilot, whose counterattack was also well received by users.
Incidentally, Norris himself came closest to a Grand Prix victory last year in Sochi, but after he decided on the wrong tires when it started to rain, he gave up his first success in the premier class in the final phase.
He is still teased about it by Formula 1 fans and the other drivers. Like so many things, the 22-year-old takes it easy.
