A quick review of day 1. World champion Max Verstappen outclassed the competition in the new Red Bull and was more than a second faster than McLaren and Ferrari. The Dutchman was also hard-working and went about his business without any problems.
There were problems at Mercedes – the W15 had to stay in the garage for a long time, George Russell ended up only twelfth. Things weren’t going well for Williams either. Nico Hülkenberg and Haas held the red lantern, but also focused on long runs.
