Saarland racing driver Carrei Schreiner will be the first German to start at the F1 Academy. The F1 Academy is a new women’s racing series under the umbrella of Formula 1.

The 24-year-old from Saarland has been active in motor racing for more than a decade – among other things, she made history when she won the ADAC Kart Masters as a girl in 2012 and last year the first woman to win the GT3 title and the winner is.

This year she will be the first German to start in the F1 Academy. This was shared by her French racing team ART. ART is one of five racing teams starting in the new racing series. With the F1 Academy, the world association FIA and Formula 1 want to provide a platform to specifically promote women on their way to Formula 1.

In the footsteps of Hamilton, Vettel and Rosberg

ART has been involved in the careers of prominent racing drivers in the past. “I’m proud to join the list of their drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel or Nico Rosberg,” said Schreiner. She is excited to see what we can achieve together. “I think it’s an important step that Formula 1 is creating its own championship for women.”

For Schreiner it is a return to formula cars. The Saarland native had gone through karting and Formula 4, then switched to GT racing and endurance racing.
