Formula 1 | Nintendo 64 & Sega console: Lewis Hamilton in retro fever

In the middle of the 2022 Formula 1 season, Lewis Hamilton has discovered a new, old passion: video games. Before the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, the seven-time world champion was seen sitting in a hotel room and operating a console. “I was kind of itching to play old games,” explains Hamilton.

He probably came up with the idea by accident: while rummaging through his own four walls. “I found an old Nintendo 64 in the attic,” says Hamilton. “Then I got ‘Golden Eye’.”

“When I here [in Kanada] When I arrived I actually wanted to get ‘Mario Kart’, but they didn’t have that for the Nintendo 64.” Hamilton quickly found a solution and took a Sega Genesis instead. “They also had the Senna game”, namely ” Ayrton Senna’s Super Monaco GP 2″ from 1992.

Hamilton was immediately captivated by the game: “I’ve spent the past few evenings playing it, but I’m not that good at it,” says Hamilton.

His world championship rival Max Verstappen heard that, and he immediately asked mischievously with a view to the current Formula 1 season: “Any porpoising problems in the game?” Hamilton took it easy and simply replied: “No, no porpoising.”
