Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen also satisfied his hunger for victory in the Sao Paulo sprint.
In his Red Bull, Verstappen took the lead at the start on Saturday (November 4th, 2023) ahead of pole-sitter Lando Norris in the McLaren and did not relinquish the lead in the 24 laps.
In the World Cup standings, Verstappen scored another eight points and increased his tally to 499. Norris took second place ahead of Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez and the Mercedes duo with last year’s winner George Russell and record world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Hülkenberg knocked off
Nico Hülkenberg didn’t get past 17th place in the Haas and ended up in 16th place behind his teammate Kevin Magnussen.
In the Grand Prix on Sunday, Verstappen is aiming for the 52nd Grand Prix victory of his career from pole position. This would mean that he is still one short of four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel in the all-time rankings.
