As a team owner in Formula 1 Michael Schumacher, Eddie Jordan gave the chance for his career – now he succumbed to cancer at the age of 76.

Jordan had announced in December that he was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer in the spring of 2024. “The diagnosis was a shock. And then the cancer scattered, into the spine and the pelvis. He was quite aggressive,” said Jordan in the “Formula for Success” podcast at the time. He called to take care of preventive examinations. “Don’t push something like this on the long bench, but let you test. There is so much help to extend your life. Don’t be stupid.”

Jordan is considered one of the most dazzling personalities of the history of Formula 1. Toupets, goats, extravagant glasses and many luxurious status symbols made him known away from sport.

Jordan made Schumacher’s debut possible in Formula 1

Jordan himself was active as a racing driver in Formula 3, but especially shaped Formula 1 as the owner of the racing team Jordan Grand Prix. He founded the team in 1991 until 2005. He gave Michael Schumacher the chance that gave his Formula 1 debut under Jordan in Belgium in 1991.

His team won four Grand Prix victory

Jordan won a total of four Grand Prix victories, the first in 1998 in Belgium as a double victory by Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher. At that time there was third place on this best placement in the design classification. In 1999 Frentzen won two victories and four other podium places and ended up in the World Cup.
