On March 2, 2023, Formula 1 officially starts the new record season with the Bahrain Grand Prix. There are 24 races scheduled this year. But be careful: the Bahrain GP takes place on Saturday. The other sessions in the desert state are also affected by the move forward. Where can the spectacle be seen on TV and in the stream? sport.de has all the information!
The break was long enough, we’re finally starting again. After numerous speculations, rumors and bombshell reports before the season – such as the dismissal of Haas team boss Günther Steiner, the rejection of Andretti as the eleventh team and, above all, the much-noticed upcoming move from Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari next year – we are finally crying again The engines are on and racing teams and drivers are on the hunt for their first World Championship points.
After the test drives the week before, Bahrain is now inviting world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) and Co. to the race weekend at the same location on the International Circuit. This takes place from February 29th to March 2nd and begins – somewhat unusually – on Thursday with the 1st and 2nd training.
The third training session and qualifying follow on Friday, and the Grand Prix takes place on Saturday. The reason for the unusual measure: Because the fasting month of Ramadan, holy in Islam, starts on Sunday, March 10th, the second race of the season in Abu Dhabi was scheduled for Saturday. In order not to increase the logistical pressure any further, the start in Bahrain was moved up one day to the aforementioned Saturday (March 2nd).
